When
You Fall on Your Face
Things Fall into Place

“And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a
man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought Him,
saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And he [Jesus]
put forth His hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And
immediately the leprosy departed from him.” (Luke 5:12,13)
This man had a
great need. The Bible says he was “full of leprosy.” That means
it was not just isolated to a small area of his body. It was all over
his body. It was the ultimate “bad news.” This man was considered
unclean and forced to live separated from the rest of society, including
his own family.
Leprosy was the
Aids of Bible Days – An Irreversible Death Sentence, so to speak.
What about you? Have the doctors given you a “bad news” report? If so, you can do what this man in
the Bible did and expect the same good results.
This leprous man
saw Jesus and immediately “fell on his face.” This was an act of worship on his part. He quite
obviously believed that Jesus was God in the flesh. So he worshipped
Him.
How about you? Do you believe that
Jesus is God in the flesh? Are you willing to fall on your face before Him, worshipping
Him for who He is? It’s a simple and a powerful thing to do that will
produce results for you, too.
Jesus’ reputation
for being able to heal sick and dying people had gone before Him.
Even though the doctors had already given up on this leprous man,
apparently he had not given up on himself. He knew what Jesus could
do. The Bible says that he “besought” or petitioned Jesus to help him and to heal
him. You can do that, too.
As a matter of fact, Jesus said
…
“…Whatsoever ye
shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.” (John 16:23)
Notice that when
the leprous man petitioned Jesus for healing, he respectfully called Him
“Lord.” How about you? Is Jesus your Lord?
The Bible says
…
“…whosoever shall
call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)
If you’ve not made
Jesus your Lord, it’s as simple as saying, “Jesus,
You’re my choice. Be my Savior. Be my Healer.” Once
you’ve done that, you qualify to receive as this man in our opening
Scripture text received.
If you are willing
to fall on your face worshipping Jesus and His Father, setting your love
upon them, you have the absolute right to expect their help. The
Bible says so.
“Because he hath
set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high,
because he hath known my name. He shall call upon
me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver
him, and honour him. With long life will I
satisfy him, and shew
him my salvation.” (Psalm 91:14-16)
In closing it’s
important that we notice one other Bible fact. When this leprous man
prayed for healing by saying, “If thou wilt” or “If it be Thy will,” Jesus
corrected him. He said, “I will” or “It is My will” and healed him
immediately.
This is the only
time in all of Scripture where someone prayed for healing by saying, “If it
be thy will.” When this man did that, he was immediately corrected
for doing so.
Why? Because it’s wrong to pray, “If it be thy
will” when God promises to do something. Certainly, throughout the
Scripture God promises to heal all who love Him.
“And he [Jesus]
came down … and stood in the plain … and a great multitude of people … came
to hear Him, and to be healed of their diseases;
And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed. And
the whole multitude sought to touch Him: for there went virtue out of Him,
and healed them ALL.” (Luke 6:17-10)
