Experiencing
the Glory of God 4
The Importance of True Worship
by Pastor John Hamel
“After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven:
and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with
me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee
things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit:
and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and
a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight
like unto an emerald.
"And round about the throne were four and twenty seats:
and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white
raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the
throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of
fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in
the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full
of eyes before and behind. And the first beast was like a lion, and
the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and
the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each
of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they
rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which
was, and is, and is to come.
"And when those beasts give glory and honour
and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth
for ever and ever, The four and twenty
elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that liveth for ever and ever, and cast their crowns before
the throne, saying, Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and
for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation 4:1-11)
The Book of Revelation opens with John seeing the people of God
and the living creatures as worshippers of God. (Verse 11)
As late as the last chapter of Revelation we still find worship
of God being mentioned in John's vision.
“And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had
heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things. Then saith
he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy
brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the
sayings of this book: worship God.” (Revelation 22:8-9)
The
Simplicity of True Worship
After being caught up in the Glory and seeing possibly the greatest
revelation of future events of any human being since his day, John closes
by sharing with us what he learned about worshipping God. Today, John
would hold a Doctorate in Future Revelation. Yet, as anointed, inspired
and intelligent as he was, it seems that he always chose to keep things
simple. One of the last things he chose to leave with us at the end
of his extraordinary revelation was what the Angel said, "Worship
God." Some are offended by that. "I am
worshipping God!" they insist. “I read my Bible everyday.
I pray everyday. I tell people about Jesus. I go to Church
twice a week. That’s how I worship God.”
Well, sometimes we get so caught up in the complexities of
God's Word and being a Christian that we forget what the simplicity of true
worship really is. God not only wants us to worship Him, He wants to
teach us how to worship Him. Simply. He wants to move upon us
by His Spirit and show us the kind of worship that is acceptable in His sight.
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help
in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)
Most Believers use this verse only when they need something.
Many are so orientated to petitions and requests. God wants us
to use this verse to petition Him, but He would also like us to use this
verse as a means of worship. Through worship we can have our needs
met as easily as through petition.
However, when we have our needs met through worship, God is receiving what
He wants as well, to be worshipped.
Worship is also the way to become more like God. We
become like that which we worship. I can read books on Holiness and
come to understand a little of what Holiness is. But if I spend a few
minutes worshipping God, I begin to experience His Holiness and understand
what it is. When I just read about His Holiness, I become frustrated
by my own shortcomings. When I worship Him, I desire to continue the
process of becoming more like Him.
“We will go into his tabernacles: we will worship at his
footstool.” (Psalm 132:7)
The place to worship God is at His footstool, or at His feet. There has
been a revival of praise in the past 30 years, yet many Believers still
have not caught on to it. Some are hungry for the Glory but have yet
to realize that praise and worship
bring the Glory. Every service should begin with praise that leads to
worship which leads to Glory. When the Glory comes, people experience
the supernatural. Praise is exuberant. Worship is more awesome
and often quieter than praise. We praise God for what He does.
We worship God for Who He is. Praise will result in worship.
Worship will result in the Glory manifesting when it is properly yielded
to.
“This is the generation of them that seek him,
that seek thy face, O Jacob. Lift up your heads, O ye gates;
and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come
in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord
mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up,
ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is
this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.”
(Psalm 24:6-10)
When we worship God, His Presence comes right into our midst
and the supernatural occurs. We have known Him as Savior, Healer, Baptizer in the Holy Spirit, Provider and in many other
capacities. However, in these Last Days He is calling us to know Him
as the King of Glory.
Miracles
Occur Through Worship
Certainly we could make a way for ourselves in life apart from
living by faith. But we choose to live by faith because we love the
God of Faith. We could choose other options when sickness comes, but
we choose Him as our Healer because we love Him. The time has now
come for us to know Him as the King of Glory. It is only in the realm
of Glory that He will fight all of our
battles. When we enter the realm of Glory He is able to take
all of our struggles and problems and turn them into testimonies. He
is soon coming for a Church that has come to
know Him as the King of Glory.
“Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for
signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of
hosts, which dwelleth in
mount
Zion.” (Isaiah 8:18)
The Lord of Hosts is God's battle name. When we worship
Him, He goes to battle with signs and wonders
on our behalf! Anyone who wants the Lord of Hosts to fight for them
must first learn to worship Him for Who He is.
Worship
Unlocks All of Heaven's Resources
Some people are fascinated by England's Royal Family. I
find them quite interesting myself. But some even become obsessed
with Buckingham
Palace,
Windsor
Castle,
Balmoral Castle, the Queen's
wardrobe and every detail of every royal member's life. However, it
is given to us, as Believers, to become obsessed with the King of Glory.
We have been chosen to know the intricate details of Heaven's
mysteries.
We are not called to pick up the Midnight Globe or the National
Inquirer to receive distorted truth. We are called to pick up the
Bible and receive real truth. We are called to lift up our voices and
our hands and to step into the Royal Glory of God where there are signs and
wonders waiting to meet our needs. This is a key that will unlock all
of Heaven’s resources.
“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven:
and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be
bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose
on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)
Do you need healing? Don’t just seek healing, worship the
Healer. Do you need provision?
Don’t just seek provision, worship the Provider. Do you need deliverance? Don’t just seek
deliverance, worship the Deliverer. Get oriented towards the King,
not just the promises of the Kingdom. That’s when the Glory shows
up. One of the greatest revelators of all time, the Apostle John,
said, “Worship God.” Do it now!
Let it pour from your heart. Tell Him that you love Him
and worship Him for His goodness, His faithfulness, His patience, His
Holiness, His mercy and His longsuffering towards you. Ask the Holy
Spirit to help you worship God. He will and you will find yourself caught up in the Glory.
